NEINVER Achieves BREEAM In-Use Certification for Amsterdam The Style Outlets
05/02/2025 – NEINVER, a leading European investor, developer and operator of outlet centres has obtained BREEAM In-Use certification for Amsterdam The Style Outlets. The Dutch outlet has earned the certification for the first time, achieving a “Very Good” rating in both Asset Performance and Building Management categories.
The outlet centre excels in several key areas. With an EPC A+ rating, it ensures reduced and optimised energy consumption, contributing to overall energy efficiency. Strategically located near the Halfweg-Zwanenburg railway station and a bus stop just 500 metres away, the centre is well-served by public transport options. In addition, it offers 205 bicycle parking spaces and 40 electric vehicle charging points, promoting sustainable mobility for visitors and employees.
The centre also prioritises biodiversity, with a 4,700 sqm pond surrounded by reeds and meadows that provides rainwater management and a habitat for amphibians and birds, in line with its biodiversity plan. Moreover, Amsterdam The Style Outlets operates under ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management) systems. The building’s climate risks are also regularly assessed to ensure the centre is well-prepared to address environmental challenges.

Opened in 2020, Amsterdam The Style Outlets, owned by Neptune – a joint venture between NEINVER and Nuveen’s parent company, TIAA – is the only outlet centre in the Amsterdam metropolitan area. With a gross lettable area of 19,000 m², it hosts more than 115 stores, restaurants, terraces, a coworking space, an art gallery, and covered parking. The centre is also Zero Waste certified, recovering 100% of its waste.
This certification meets the rigorous standards of BREEAM In-Use Version 6, which particularly emphasises climate resilience, social value, and circular economy principles while promoting environmental, health and well-being outcomes for the building’s users.

Since 2013, NEINVER has consistently improved its sustainability credentials, becoming the first operator to achieve BREEAM In-Use certification across its entire European outlet portfolio.
Key initiatives enhancing the environmental value of its centres include water recycling systems, light pollution reduction, sustainable drainage analysis, biodiversity improvements and the implementation of energy-efficient technologies.
